Georgie Crozier MLC visit to Ramsey Coote Instruments

Victorian Government politician Georgie Crozier MLC,Member for Southern Metropolitan Region and Parliamentary Secretary for Health visited the Ramsey Coote facility this week. Ramsey Coote Instruments were recipients of the Voucher grant for innovation which contributed to a multi centre audit of bed wetting treatment practices within hospitals, community continence clinics and private practice.  The results from the study will provide evidence in treatment of children with a bed wetting problem.  It is anticipated that they will be presented at the combined Continence Foundation of Australia and International Childrens Continence Society meeting in September this year.

Welcome to a Happy New Year from Ramsey Coote Instruments

Hello to families, customers and those interested in helping children become dry at night.  We are well into 2014 after completing a very busy 2013.  It was a year of achievements for Ramsey Coote Instruments which included the following:

  • Results from the multi-centre audit completed at one site which shows a 76% success rate after a treatment of 6-8 weeks and this went up to over 90% with those that relapsed and had a second treatment.  This audit was partly funded by the Victorian Government Voucher programme for small business that helps pay for research and development.
  • Attended conferences in the USA and Australia discussing with new and potential practitioners of how they can help their families with children become dry at night.
  • Winning First Prize with our Abstract at The Simon Foundation,  “Engineering Challenge Conference”, in Chicago April 2013
  • Congratulations to the following customers who have purchased from us:  Chicago Children’s Hospital, University of Michigan Children’s Hospital,  Bedwetting Solutions (NZ), A Dry Bed,  Royal Children’s Hospital, Adelaide Enuresis Clinic and many more … Thanks again for your support to Ramsey Coote Instruments…

We will be out again this year to conferences and hope to help practitioners in their efforts with children who wish to become dry at night.  We are on the way to developing a pathway to care and will incorporate education into our service once we get further results from the research we are conducting.  We wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2014

from the team at Ramsey Coote Instruments

Update on Ramsey Coote Research Project

We started our multi-centre retrospective study, under direction of Dr Esther Apos, early this year and have completed data collection at Ballarat Health Service.  We are well under way with collection at Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and plan to have analysis of over 500 records for the forthcoming Pediatric Urology meeting which is to be held 20-22 September in Las Vegas Nevada USA.

Ramsey Coote Instruments wins First Place for Poster Presentation at 2013 Innovating Continence Conference

We recently attended the Simon Foundation “Innovating for Continence: The Engineering Challenge, 2013”.  This was held in Chicago and was a mix of healthcare, industry and academic professionals discussing ways to help people with incontinence issues.  Ramsey Coote under the guidance of Dr Esther Apos, see in photo, put together a poster on the interim results of our research project and analysed 150 records.  This poster won first prize.  There were 40 posters in total and the results showed that the bell and pad system had an 87% success rate with an 11% relapse rate.  The research will take an additional 12-18 months to complete and we plan to analyse approximately 3000 records which will provide evidence and education to help children become dry at night.

Ramsey Coote wishes their clients and users a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It has been a very interesting and exciting time for Ramsey Coote Instruments during the past six months. I can’t believe the last update here was in July and I am sure that I am not the only one thinking where has the year gone!!  It is always a good idea to look at achievements and during this tough economic time we seem to be getting on with our business of helping practitioners by manufacturing and servicing our products to help children become dry at night.  We will be closing from 21st December 2012 to 21st January 2013 so please send your repairs or orders in prior to this date or after the 21st January.

In August and November we attended meetings in New Zealand.  At the first meeting, the Primary Healthcare Nurses meeting in Hamilton, and in Palmerston North was the Paediatric Society meeting where one of our clients presented an abstract on their bedwetting practice in the community.   We attended the combined IUGA and Continence Foundation of Australia Meeting in Brisbane and unfortunately the program was focussed more on the surgical aspects rather than the usual blend of information and discussion that suited our clients, also very limited information for those helping children.   This is disappointing as there is limited opportunity for us to hear up to date information that relates to every day clinical practice.   In October Ramsey Coote had a stand at the American Academy of Pediatrics meeting in New Orleans, USA.  Again there was lots of interest in our products and we are discussing the opportunity of a study with one of our contacts there.

Research and evidence is the name of the game in today’s clinical practice so we are delighted to be a recipient of a voucher program run by our state government that will help support the analysis of  a project titled, “Review of Bed Wetting Treatment Practices in Children Using the Bell and Pad Treatment within Hospitals, Community Continence Clinics and Private Practice.”   This will be one of the largest analysis undertaken on bedwetting treatment and the outcomes will show how effective the bell and pad system is along with how the treatment is conducted so I am sure that we will all learn new information that will help the clinical practice world wide.  It will provide up to date evidence rather than rely on older review articles.

We look forward to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013 for all our colleagues, clients and users.  If you would like more information about any of our products please contact us.
